DJ Eazy: Αγαπημένα albums και singles από το 2021.
Eazy είναι το ψευδώνυμο του Δημήτρη, ενός από τα ιδρυτικά μέλη της δισκογραφικής SSFR. Σταθερός στην Αθηναϊκή, underground μουσική σκηνή, στην οποία, για μια δεκαετία, αξιοποιεί τις ικανότητές του για δικτύωση ώστε να βρει νέους DJs, εγκαταλελειμμένα μέρη και να βάλει νέες ιδέες στο τραπέζι, ενώ «τρέχει» και την δική του ραδιοφωνική εκπομπή “Eazy does it” στο Cannibal Radio. Το Athens Drunks Crew είναι ο «παράδεισός» του και αν κανείς γνωρίζει από DIY, warehouse raves είναι σίγουρα αυτός!
Πέρα από την αφοσίωση σε mixing ηλεκτρονικής/house/disco, είναι resident στις 0-808-BASSLINES club βραδιές, όπου επιλέγει τους πιο φρέσκους grime/trap/dancehall ήχους. Επιπλέον, έχει προετοιμάσει το κοινό για τους Jensen Interceptor (Boys Noize Records), Madam X (Kaizen), Fidelity Kastrow (Sisyphos), Anomon (This Ain’t Bristol), Digital Riot (Nervous Records) και Nteibint (Kitsuné).

Isaiah Rashad – The House Is Burning
Αυτό το album με ανατρίχιασε, μια αίσθηση 90’s στην ατμόσφαιρα, ακουστικά, φούτερ με κουκούλα, βόλτες στην πόλη με ένα ζεστό ρόφημα και μερικά τσιγάρα. 10 χρόνια μετά, ο Isaiah μας δίνει αυτό το κάτι κλασσικό. Εμπιστευτείτε τα TDE παιδιά.

Zoro – Matrix
Ο Zoro είναι ένας Έλληνας rapper από τα δυτικά προάστια της Αθήνας, που μπορεί να μετουσιωθεί σε διαφορετικούς τύπους rap και flows ακόμα κι αν δεν έχει την εμπειρία του χώρου για καιρό. Αυτό το album είναι εξ’ ολοκλήρου μια δημιουργία του ίδιου και των beatmaker φίλων του. Οι στίχοι του είναι τόσο όμορφοι και ειλικρινείς.

DJ Silence – 22:22
Ο DJ Silence είναι από την Θεσσαλονίκη κι έκανε ένα κορυφαίο mixtape το οποίο με έπιασε αδιάβαστο. Ξεκινώντας ως παραγωγός και DJ σε πάρτι, βρέθηκε σε πολλά δημοφιλή, τοπικά rap clips και παρτι. Το 2021 ήταν η χρονιά του και αν θέλετε να πάρετε μια γεύση από το εγχώριο hype στην trap, ακούστε το 22:22 καθώς θα χορεύετε.

Sad Night Dynamite – Mixtape
Άκουγα αυτό το album όλο τον Αύγουστο μέσα από τα bluetooth ηχεία μου, στη θάλασσα. Σου φτιάχνει τη διάθεση, δεν γίνεται να το αρνηθείς. Μερός του mixtape του ηχογραφήθηκε στην πρώτη καραντίνα στη Βρετανία, ενώ το συγκρότημα την «έπεσε» σε μια παρατημένη pub με τα ποντίκια να τους διαπερνούν όσο κοιμόντουσαν. Μπορούν απλούστατα να περιγραφούν ως το The Blair Witch Project συναντάει τους Gorillaz και, εύστοχα, το καυτό Βρετανικό δίδυμο έχει αποκτήσει fans από τους ίδιους τους Gorillaz, αλλά κι από FKA Twigs, Pa Salieu και Shygirl.

The Bug – Fire
Το Fire είναι το καλύτερο album του Martin ως Bug. Φιλτράρει, ταυτόχρονα, τη φιλοσοφία και του project και του ίδιου στην απλούστερη, αγνότερη μορφή της. Στη διάρκειά του, αναφέρει κάτι ουσιαστικό, βαθύ και προσφέρει ένα ζωτικά διασκεδαστικό συναίσθημα με ένα masterclass στην bass-driven electronica.

Elephant Phinix & Sadacore – BLAKNIGHTS
Βγαλμένο από τους βρώμικους δρόμους της Αθήνας, έχει βαρύ μπάσο, είναι σκοτεινό και δυναμικό και δημιουργεί μια αίσθηση «γραπώματος», αφήνοντας τον ακροατή εκστασιασμένο και να επιθυμεί όλο και περισσότερο. Το “Drop” μπορεί εξίσου να περιγραφεί ως ενα grime album ή έναν φόρο τιμής στην σύγχρονη (Βρετανική) bass μουσική καθ’ότι ο παραγωγός του, ο Sadacore, καταφέρνει δεξιοτεχνικά να πλοηγηθεί στη διάθεση και στο στιλ των ριζών του είδους. Rave, breakbeat, dubstep, trap, όλα έχουν τις στιγμές τους μέσα στο album. Ο Elephant Phinix καταθέτει διαρκώς flows με μαγκιά και μαεστρία, που διαπραγματεύονται τη θεματική του αστικού άγχους, της αυτοαμφισβήτησης και της δυσαρέσκειας.

Το project ακολουθεί το ταξίδι του DJ LAG από τις πρώτες κιόλας μέρες, εξιστορεί τις μάχες που έδωσε για να κερδίσει τη θέση του ως ένας πρωτοπόρος της Νοτιοαφρικανικής ηλεκτρονικής και παρουσιάζει τον ήχο του gqom 2.0, έντονα επηρεασμένο από την Afro-house, την Afro-tech και τη νέα amapiano τάση.

Hôtel Costes Presents – Hardcore Lounge
Το Glacial είναι το συνεργατικό project του καταξιωμένου Έλληνα techno/house παραγωγού Γιώργου Λέμου – γνωστός ως Lemos – και του σαξοφωνίστα/πειραματικού καλλιτέχνη Ilan Manouach. Το ντουέτο κυκλοφόρησε το ντεμπούτο του πίσω στο 2012, μέσω της προγενέστερη σειράς “Costes Presente”. Με αυτό το νέο album, το συγκρότημα είναι ξανά μαζί για μια κυκλοφορία στη νέα σειρά “Hotel Costes Presents”, προσφέροντας για ακόμη μια φορά την αμίμητη προσέγγιση τους στην εμπνευσμένη από jazz ηλεκτρονική μουσική.

Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & The London Symphony Orchestra
Ονειρικό, κομψό και παιχνιδιάρικο. Οι χορδές στο Movement 6 με άγγιξαν απόλυτα με μια καθαρή, αγνή «ζεστασιά». Απλά, ένα εκπληκτικό 46′ album. Αιωρείται και «λιώνει» και είναι πανέμορφο και σαγηνευτικό. Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders και η Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα του Λονδίνου συνεργάζονται για ένα album για τα αυτιά, την καρδιά και την ψυχή.

Promises&ME, Rampa, Adam Port – Send Return
Αφιερώνοντας χρόνο για εξερεύνηση νεών ηχοτοπίων και πηγαίου υλικού για τη δεύτερη προσφορά τους, το Send Return είναι το προϊόν ενός δημιουργικού διαλείμματος: Ένα θετικό μήνυμα που απαιτεί θετικό feedback και, ευελπιστόντας, να κάνει τα πράγματα λίγο καλύτερα στην πορεία. Για να μεταδοθεί το μήνυμα, τα παιδιά προσκάλεσαν μια ποικιλία φωνών από τα παρελθοντικά αλλά και τα τωρινά, συνεργατικά τους project.

Eazy is the alter-ego of Dimitris, one of the founding members of SSFR Label. A fixture on the Athenian underground music scene which, for the past decade, has been using his networking abilities to find new DJs, abandoned places, and get new ideas working, while running his own radio show called “Eazy does it” at Cannibal Radio. Athens Drunks Crew is his playground and if someone knows about DIY raves in warehouses, is this guy!

This album gave me the chills, a 90’s feel in the air, headphones, hoodies, walking in the city with a hot sip, and some smokes. 10 years later Isaiah gave us a classic. Trust TDE kids.

Zoro – Matrix
Zoro is a Greek rapper from the western suburbs of Athens that can transform himself into different rap types and flows even if he hasn’t been in the game for long. This album is fully made by him and his beatmaker friends. The lyrics are so beautiful and true.

DJ Silence – 22:22
DJ Silence comes from Thessaloniki, Greece and he made a top hit mixtape and caught me by surprise. Starting as a party dj and producer, he was then featured in a lot of well-known local rap clips and parties. 2021 was his year and if you want to get a feel of the local trap hype listen to the 22:22 album while dancing.

Sad Night Dynamite – Mixtape
I played this album for the whole of August through my Bluetooth speaker at the sea. Issa fuckin’ mood maker, you can’t deny it. Part of this mixtape was recorded during the first quarantine in the UK while the band was crashing in an abandoned pub with rats passing by while they slept. They can only be described as The Blair Witch Project meets Gorillaz, and aptly so, as the hotly tipped UK duo has made fans in the Gorillaz themselves, alongside the likes of FKA Twigs, Pa Salieu, and Shygirl.

The Bug – Fire
Fire is Martin’s finest Bug album. It distills both the project’s and his philosophy down to its simplest, purest form. In the process, it says something profound and provides a viscerally entertaining masterclass in bass-driven electronica.

Elephant Phinix & Sadacore – BLAKNIGHTS
Spawned from the mucky streets of Athens, it’s bass-heavy, dark, and hard-hitting and creates gripping tension that leaves the listener fired up and wanting more. “Drop” could be equally described as a grime album or a tribute to modern (UK) bass music in general since its producer, Sadacore, manages to navigate the heritage’s moods and styles expertly. Rave, breakbeat, dubstep, trap, they all have their moments throughout the album. Elephant Phinix lays down flows for days, with attitude and finesse, that tackle themes of urban angst, self-doubt, and discontent.

Hôtel Costes Presents – Hardcore Lounge
Glacial is the joint project of renowned Greek techno/house producer Giorgos Lemos – also known as Lemos – and saxophonist/experimental artist Ilan Manouach. The duo released their debut album back in 2012 via the former “Costes Presente” series. With this new album, the band is back together for a release on the new “Hotel Costes Presents” series, once again delivering their inimitable twist on jazz infused electronic music.

Dreamy, classy and playful. The strings in Movement 6 totally get me, pure sweetness. Simply a stunning 46-minute album. It floats and melts and is beautiful and mesmerizing. Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra joining together for an album for the ears, heart, and soul.

Taking time to explore new territories and sourcing material for their second offering, Send Return is the product of this creative ‘time-out’: a positive message requiring positive feedback, and hopefully making things a little better along the way.
