Ακούσαμε το νέο Everything We Dreamt About και ανακαλύψαμε ένα πολύ ιδιαίτερο μουσικό σχήμα!

Ο λόγος λοιπόν γίνεται για τους xDZVØNx από το Wroclaw της Πολωνίας και πιο συγκεκριμένα για το δεύτερο full album τους με τον τίτλο “Everything We Dreamt About“. Ο μοντέρνος ήχος και η αισθητική κέντρισαν αμέσως την προσοχή, με συνθέσεις που προκύπτουν από ένα ενδιαφέρον μείγμα μουσικών ειδών, εγκαθιστώντας και διατηρώντας μια δημιουργική πρωτοτυπία. Όντας λάτρεις του glitch art και του αρχιτεκτονικού μπρουταλισμού, ακολουθούν πιστά αυτό το καλλιτεχνικό μοτίβο και το αναδεικνύουν ατόφιο σε κάθε κομμάτι. Ο παράξενος αυτός συνδυασμός εκφράζεται μέσω παραμορφώσεων, synths, ανεβαστικών beats, διακριτικών noise προσθηκών, με υφές από σκοτεινή ηλεκτρονική και μιας ελαφριάς δόσης από το σύγχρονο ρεύμα του new retrowave.

Με μια ήπια εισαγωγή και ένα ονειρικό “Face To Face” μεταβαίνεις σε πιο ενεργητικό ήχο, καθώς το “The Final Boss” σε προετοιμάζει για τα επερχόμενα high-pitched φωνητικά που κυριαρχούν πάνω σε ανεβαστικό tempo. Άλλωστε, το καταλαβαίνεις κι από τον τίτλο, “Panic“.  Το “Pray” που ακολουθεί θα μπορούσαμε να πούμε ότι χτίζει μια εκστατική προδιάθεση με μια κλιμακούμενη ένταση, που κορυφώνεται στο άκουσμα του τίτλου. Σε πιο υπνωτικό μοτίβο, το “Bubbles” αποσυμφορίζει με την ηρεμία του την ατμόσφαιρα, επιστρατεύοντας κυρίως pop τεχνικές και ένα ελαφρύ new wave. Ίσως το πιο απόκοσμο και μυστηριακό κομμάτι, το “You Have To Be Alone“, προκαλεί μια τάση ανησυχίας με σκοτεινά συναισθήματα και μακάβρια φωνητικά και χτύπους. Με φανερά πιο παιχνιδιάρικη και ευχάριστη διάθεση έχουμε το “I Want To Find This Girl” σε retrowave παλμό, ενώ η συνεργασία με BELMONDO για το “Litzmannstadt” είχε ως αποτέλεσμα ένα ιδιόμορφο κομμάτι με πλήρως συγχρονισμένα φωνητικά και ρυθμό, υποβοηθούμενα από μελαγχολικά synths. Περνώντας από ένα κλείσιμο με χαρακτηριστική Ανατολικοευρωπαϊκή προφορά, έρχεται το “Playground” για να μας πικάρει σε γνώριμο «παραμορφωμένο» μοτίβο με merry-go-round φωνητικά διαρκείας. Σε πιο alternative rock ύφος το “I Will Vomit Glitter” στέκει περισσότερο σαν δήλωση αισθητικής φύσης, ενώ το “No Eyes” θα λέγαμε ότι περιγράφει απόλυτα το εξώφυλλο με μια ιδιόρρυθμη εισαγωγή, μεταβαίνοντας σε ρυθμικές pop νότες με τα χαρακτηριστικά πλέον για τον δίσκο φωνητικά. Φτάνουμε στο κλείσιμο, που παρά την γενική χαλαρότητα, στο “Stupid Smile” προστίθεται όγκος ανά σημεία, με το beat και την απομακρυσμένη φωνή να μετατρέπονται σε ένα glitch-αριστό πέρασμα προς τα παραμορφωμένα, πειραματικά φωνητικά του “I Am Saint“.

Το album αυτό, πέρα από την γενική έκπληξη που μας προκάλεσε, προορίζεται για ακροατές με όρεξη για επιπλέον μουσικές ανακαλύψεις. Στο γενικό του design είναι αρκετά μελαγχολικό, χωρίς ωστόσο να σε «ρίχνει». Η ποικιλομορφία που επιδεικνύεται αφηγείται με τον τρόπο της ένα urban neon ταξίδι, με εικόνες μιας γκρίζας πόλης της Ανατολικής Ευρώπης. Αποτελεί μια πρωτότυπη και αυθεντική δημιουργία, ήδη από το πρώτο καθολικό άκουσμα.

We just discovered the group xDZVØNx and their very new album Everything We Dreamt About!

This is for xDZVØNx from Wroclaw, Poland and more specifically for their second full album entitled “Everything We Dreamt About”. The modern sound of it and the aesthetics immediately attracted attention, with compositions resulting from an interesting mix of musical genres, installing and maintaining creative originality. As fans of glitch art and architectural brutality, they faithfully follow this artistic pattern and make it stand out in every piece. This strange combination is expressed through distortions, synths, uplifting beats, discreet noise additions, with textures from dark electronics and a light dose of the modern current of the new retrowave.

With a gentle intro and the dreamy “Face To Face” you are transferred to a more active sound, as the “The Final Boss” prepares you for the upcoming high-pitched vocals that dominate on an uplifting tempo. Besides, you get it from the title, “Panic”. As for the “Pray” that follows it can be said that it builds an ecstatic predisposition with escalating intensity, culminating in the title. In a more hypnotic pattern, the “Bubbles” relieves the atmosphere with its calmness, mainly using pop techniques and a light new wave. Perhaps the eeriest and most mysterious piece, “You Have To Be Alone”, causes a tendency to worry with dark emotions and macabre vocals and beats. With a much more playful and enjoyable mood, the “I Want To Find This Girl” follows in retrowave pulse, while the collaboration with BELMONDO for “Litzmannstadt” resulted in a peculiar track with fully synchronized vocals and rhythm, assisted by melancholy synths. Going towards the closure with a characteristic Eastern European accent, “Playground” comes to pick us up in a familiar “distorted” pattern with merry-go-round vocals of duration. In a more alternative rock style, “I Will Vomit Glitter” stands out more as a statement of an aesthetic nature, while for the “No Eyes” we could say that perfectly describes the cover with a quirky introduction, switching to rhythmic pop notes with the characteristics now for the album vocally. We reach the end of the album that, despite the generally relaxed atmosphere, “Stupid Smile” adds scatteringly volume, with the beat and the distant voice turning into a glitch-excellent passage to the distorted experimental vocals of “I Am Saint”.

This album, in addition to the general surprise it caused us, addresses to listeners with an appetite for additional musical discoveries. Overall, it is quite melancholic, but without bringing you down. The displayed diversity narrates in its own way an urban neon journey, with images of a gray city in Eastern Europe. It is an original and authentic creation, from the very first hearing.
