Μια ματιά στο νέο φανταστικό φωτογραφικό βιβλίο του Tim Walker!

Μπορεί να έχεις ακούσει ήδη το όνομα του από την πολυαναμενόμενη έκθεσή του στο μουσείο V&A του Λονδίνου με τίτλο Tim Walker: Wonderful Things. Μια έκθεση για την πολυετή καριέρα του φωτογράφου, στην οποία θα παρουσιαστούν και νέα έργα, τα οποία εμπνεύστηκε από το αρχειακό υλικό του λονδρέζικου μουσείου. Γνωστός για τις φανταστικές εικόνες του με φανερές αναφορές στη μόδα, λίγες μέρες πριν τα εγκαίνια της έκθεσης, δημοσίευσε, με την συμβολή των Thames & Hudson, ένα νέο project του, Tim Walker: Shoot For the Moon. Η έμπνευση για τον τίτλο έχει προέλθει από το quote του Norman Vincent Peale:

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars.”

Η συγκεκριμένη δουλειά αποκαλύπτει μια πιο σκοτεινή πλευρά του φωτογράφου. Όπως αναφέρεται στην περίληψη: “Every point must have its counterpoint, day its night, light its dark… Shoot for the Moon draws audiences close to reveal fantasy’s other, darker side.”

Μέσα σε 340 σελίδες, ξεδιπλώνονται 238 απεικονίσεις, στις οποίες συγκαταλέγονται φωτογραφίες που δημιουργήθηκαν για πεδιοχικά τεύχη, όπως στα Another Man, Vogue, Vanity Fair, and others. Το σύνολο του έργου υπόσχεται ένα σαρωτικό πορτρέτο της σύγχρονης καλλιτεχνικής παραγωγής του Walker.

“Each new shoot is a love letter to an object from the V&A collection, and an attempt to capture my encounter with the sublime. For me, beauty is everything. I’m interested in breaking down the boundaries that society has created, to enable more varied types of beauty and the wonderful diversity of humanity to be celebrated. Preparing for this exhibition over the past three years has pushed me into new territories, which is very exciting, and I’m at a stage in my life where I feel brave enough to do that.” Tim Walker
