Ο Paul Ritch ξεκινάει δυναμικά τον κατάλογο της Quartz Rec. για το 2022, προσκαλώντας τον Fabrizio De Santis για το ντεμπούτο το στο label. Το EP έχει τον τίτλο Elements και αποτελείται από 5 συνολικά κομμάτια, χαρακτηριστικά σκοτεινά και σχεδιασμένα για ένα ζωηρό dance floor. Επίσημα θα κυκλοφορήσει στις 25 Φεβρουαρίου σε ψηφιακή μορφή, διαθέσιμο για αγορά μέσω Bandcamp.
Στο πλαίσιο λοιπόν αυτής της κυκλοφορίας, ο Fabrizio ετοίμασε ένα απολαυστικό mix για τον Beater.gr για να μας συστηθεί μουσικά και να μας προετοιμάσει για τη νέα του δημιουργία, απαντώντας παράλληλα και σε μερικές ερωτήσεις.
Βιογραφικό
Ο Fabrizio De Santis γεννήθηκε στις 16 Μαΐου του 1993. Όταν ήταν μόλις 10 χρονών, το πάθος του για την techno μουσική εμφανίστηκε, με τον ίδιο να δοκιμάζει την παραγωγή και το DJing. Αμέσως κατάφερε να γίνει ο resident DJ ενός δημοφιλούς house/techno club στο Palermo, με το όνομα Bier Garten.
Το 2015 μπήκε στην underground ομάδα Area 5.1, συνεχίζοντας ως resident DJ του Unlocked σε ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά club στην Ιταλία, το Mob Disco Theatre. Έπειτα, το 2019, ιδρύει το ανεξάρτητο techno label Øpium Trax «μακριά» από τα συνηθισμένα στο εγχώριο clubbing, συνεργαζόμενος μάλιστα με ονόματα όπως Mattia Trani, Hush & sleep, Manuel di Martino, DSTM και Frankyeffe.
Έχει παίξει, ακόμα, σε μερικά από τα μεγαλύτερα clubs της σκηνής όπως τα Maassilo, Afrobar και Sage Beach, μοιραζόμενος τα decks με παγκοσμίου κλάσης καλλιτέχνες σαν τους Luigi Madonna, Joseph Capriati, Luca Agnelli, Richie Hawtin, Marco Faraone και Rebekah. Ως συνέχεια και highlight, συμμετείχε σε ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα φεστιβάλ της Ιταλίας, το Selinus Music Festival στο αρχαιολογικό πάρκο Selinunte μαζί με τον Carl Cox.
Μια ταιριαστή αναφορά στην καλλιτεχνική του ταυτότητα αποτελεί ο Luca Agnelli – γνωστός Ιταλός DJ και παραγωγός, ιδρυτής του σημαντικού label Etruria Beat του οποίου ο Fabrizio είναι μέλος.

Θα ήθελες να μας πεις περισσότερα για την ιδέα πίσω από την κυκλοφορία; Για παράδειγμα τι σε ενέπνευσε.
Το Elements δημιουργήθηκε μια κρύα, χειμωνιάτικη νύχτα στο studio. Πηγή έμπνευσης αποτέλεσε, ασφαλώς, η κόρη μου, η οποία θα γεννηθεί σύντομα. Όταν βρίσκομαι στο studio χρειάζεται να σκεφτώ κάτι σχετικά με αυτή για να «κατέβουν» όλα ξαφνικά στο μυαλό μου. Όταν είμαι ήρεμος, από την άλλη, μπορώ να φτιάξω ένα μαγικό συναίσθημα στο studio, που θα με βοηθήσει να ολοκληρώσω ένα EP σε μόλις λίγες μέρες δουλειάς.
Πώς προσέγγισες το συγκεκριμένο EP; Και προσωπικά, αλλά και σχετικά με την παραγωγή του.
Η προσέγγιση των κομματιών είναι πάντα η ίδια. Ανοίγω τα μηχανήματα και αρχίζω να πειραματίζομαι. Έπειτα, εξερευνώ διάφορα plug ins για να ταιριάξω τον ήχο που έχω στο μυαλό μου για τη συγκεκριμένη δουλειά.
Τι θα έλεγες πως έμαθες κατά τη δημιουργία του και πώς αυτό πραγματοποιήθηκε;
Μέσα από αυτό το EP έμαθα πως μπορείς να κάνεις αυτό που θέλεις με τη σωστή αποφασιστικότητα!
Δοκίμασες κάτι νέο ή διαφορετικό συγκριτικά με τις άλλες κυκλοφορίες σου;
Ναι, δοκίμασα, μιας και το Elements είναι εντελώς διαφορετικό από όσα έχω κάνει μέχρι στιγμής. 0 industrial ήχοι και χώρος για το groove. Άφησα τον εαυτό μου να χαθεί στην αγνό techno.
Ποιο κομμάτι του ξεχωρίζεις και γιατί; Υπάρχει κάτι ιδιαίτερο σε αυτό;
Σίγουρα το Culture ξεχωρίζει από τα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια. Έχει έναν δυνατότερο, αναλογικό ήχο. Αναμφίβολα, έχει εμπνευστεί από τον Stef Mendesidis – έναν καλλιτέχνικα που σέβομαι πολύ, μια σπουδαία πηγή έμπνευσης για την μουσική μου.
Τι προσπάθησες να καταδείξεις σχετικά με τον εαυτό σου στα κομμάτια;
Προσπάθησα να αναδείξω μια προσωπική μου πλευρά. Κι αυτό έγινε εφικτό με τη βοήθεια του Paul Ritch και της γυναίκας του, της Sandra, που είναι μια σπουδαία ομάδα και μου έδωσαν την ελευθερία για να γίνω δημιουργικός.
Μέσα από το EP, υπάρχει κάποιο μήνυμα που θες να μοιραστείς;
Κανένα. Απλώς θέλω να πω την ιστορία μου.

Paul Ritch dynamically kicks off 2022 for Quartz Rec. by inviting Fabrizio De Santis for his debut on the label. The EP’s title is Elements and consists of 5 tracks, characteristically dark and properly designed for a lively dance floor. It will be officially released on 25th of February in digital format, available purchase through Bandcamp.
So, one day before the release, we present you a powerful mix that Fabrizio made for Beater.gr to musically introduce himself and prepare us for his upcoming work, answering also a few questions.
Bio
Fabrizio De Santis was born on May 16, 1993. When he was only 10 years old, his passion for techno music sparked, trying his hand at producing and DJing. Immediately, then, he became the resident DJ of a well-known house/techno club in Palermo, the Bier Garten.
In 2015 he joined the underground crew Area 5.1, then he became resident Dj of Unlocked in one of the most important clubs in Italy, Mob Disco Theatre. Then, in 2019, he founded Øpium Trax, an independent techno label outside the classic schemes of Italian clubbing, collaborating with artists such as Mattia Trani, Hush & sleep, Manuel di Martino, DSTM and Frankyeffe.
He has played in the best clubs of the scene including Maassilo, Afrobar and Sage Beach, sharing the console with world-class artists such as Luigi Madonna, Joseph Capriati, Luca Agnelli, Richie Hawtin, Marco Faraone and Rebekah. As a consequence and a highlight, he participated in one of the biggest Italian festivals, Selinus Music Festival in the archaeological park of Selinunte together with Carl Cox.
A great point of reference for his artistic figure is Luca Agnelli – known Italian Dj and producer, owner of the prestigious Etruria Beat of which Fabrizio is part.

Would you like to tell us about the idea behind it? For example the source of its inspiration.
Elements was born from a cold winter day in the studio. My source of inspiration is definitely my daughter, who will be born soon. When I’m in the studio I just have to think something about her, so that everything appears immediately in my head. On the other hand, when I am calm I can create a magical feeling in the studio, which allows me to close an EP in a few days of work.
What was your approach towards this EP? Both personally and in terms of production.
The approach to the tracks is always the same. I turn on the machines and start experimenting. Then, I surf through thousands of plug ins to find the sound I have in mind for that EP.
What would you say you have learned in its making and how was this made possible?
This EP teached me that you can do whatever you want with the right determination!
Did you try something different or new compared to the rest of your releases?
Yes, I tried something different because Elements is totally different from all the stuff I’ve done so far. 0 industrial sounds and space for the groove. I completely dived myself in pure techno.
Which track do you distinguish and why? Is there something special about it?
Surely Culture stands out from the rest of the tracks. It has a stronger and analog sound. Definitely it was also inspired by Stef Mendesidis – one of the artists I respect the most, a great source of inspiration for my music.
What did you try to capture about yourself through these tracks?
In this EP I tried to expose the personal side of myself. This was possible also thanks to Paul Ritch and his wife Sandra, who are a super team and gave freedom to my creativity
Through this EP, is there a message you want to spread?
No message, I just want to tell my story.
